Let me say right off the bat that I am totally breaking format. My goal with reviews is to give the platform to indie brands. NYX is definitely not an indie brand, but I'm breaking my own rule because I've been dying to try, share, and show this collection since I heard they were releasing it: NYX Macaron Lippies.
Quick lowdown: NYX is a super duper awesome brand of cosmetics that you can find at ULTA or your friendly neighborhood Target. I adore their matte lipsticks/creams, blush, and matte setting spray. In my humble opinion, those are the three things they absolutely kill. 10/10, NYX.
Anyway, the makeup world was abuzz recently with feverish rumors about the release date of this collection. Acquiring all the colors was a no-brainer, since their formulas are mega awesome. They released the collection merely a couple of weeks ago at most, and I swooped on ALL THE LIPSTICK! I am a proud owner of a wearable rainbow. The names are all inspired by - you guessed it- - macarons, those deliciously sweet and flavorful little pastry delicacies.
K ENOUGH WORDS ONTO THE SWATCHES. Warning: face overload.
From left/right and top/bottom, the colors are:
Rose, Orange Blossom, Citron
Key Lime, Pistachio, Blue Velvet
Earl Grey, Violet, Lavender
Black Sesame, Coconut, Chambord
Closing thoughts: I am surprised I gravitated to the blues and greens as my favorite colors, and not to toot my own horn but I think they really look nice on me. Chambord is the #1 and Coconut is just too sad to exist. The paler colors I will wear selectively, but are staying in the arsenal for future artistry on faces that are not mine.
NYX, thank you for such a pretty collection. SERIOUSLY.
