Drugstore haul: hate the mascara, meh about the primer/BB cream, decent eyeshadow base, love the NYX eyebrow shaper (it's just a wax pencil, texture is your friend). Like, I hate this mascara so much. Each type I've tried in an attempt to replace Lush Lash with an inexpensive alternative. So, I have two mascaras up for grabs: this Maybelline one, and NYX Doll Eyes. Both are waterproof. They're just not for me. Each used once. Let me know if you want them. I've yet to determine how I feel about the Revlon face products. So far, I'm not crazy about them but want to see how powder foundation lives on the primer and what the BB cream might do on its own in summer.
OKAY, so with that out of the way, the thing I LOVE LOVE LOVE from the drugstore haul are the Revlon balms (oh, and the NYX spray- it'll probably end up replacing De-slick! Yay cheaper alternatives). The balms are in thick pencil form, but they twist up (no sharpening problems) and have peppermint oil (because delicious). They apply smoothly, stay put, are very pigmented, and have a sleek design and feel. Plus, matte. Revlon is killing it with this product and I hope these never get discontinued.
I also happened to find my perfect vampy purple lip color. Imagine a deeply bruised plum, or the color of grape soda: dark, but still noticeably purple. And the tone is perfect on my skin. It's so vampy. The day I got these it was a bit chilly here and felt like October, so I threw on some flannel and leggings and donned the purple lip color and it was just perfect. Makeup synergy.
However, I wore the other two lip colors that day and blended them to make a bright sort of neutral lip. The first color was too dark a terra cotta, but the second one is too bright a coral, so I layered the two and made this sort of warm pink bright thing. Yep.
