OCC Lip Tar in Clear, Strumpet, Stalker
In keeping with the tradition of styling looks for the upcoming spring production, I went classic '50s today with a red lip and lovely eyes. When in doubt, default to this look. It will never do you wrong.
Lip Tar is really growing on me. The first time I ever tried it, I went WTF WHY and wiped it hastily from my lips. Now, I love this stuff. LOVE. IT. The staying power is phenomenal. Yes, it's a bit cumbersome to touch up throughout the day, but as long as you do some good priming, line your lips, and invest a few minutes in getting it right, the product and payoff are worth it.
I'm crazy about Strumpet, but since it's more of a berry color (think smashed raspberries), I combined it with Stalker, a blue-based red. Blue-based reds are universally flattering and are often considered the "true reds" of red lipsticks. A little balm and Clear LT set the base to grip the color. Apply, blot, apply again, blot, repeat again and then press a bit of powder on top to mattify and set.
Also, if you think you can't wear red lipstick, then you are very wrong, my friend. ANYONE can kill red lipstick. If you're nervous, come over and let me paint your face.
