New Year's Eve makeup! I always like to default to timeless glamor, and my hair even cooperated naturally. I worked at Haute Dish, wore a velvet dress with shiny tights, and made a killing. Plus I got to smooch my sweetheart, as well as a bunch of my coworkers and enjoy a final libation for the month of January.
Yep, no drinking for January.
And it has been amaaazing. I did, however, enjoy three drinks over the course of this past week. That aside, this exercise in restriction has taught me the beauty of sobriety and the art of moderation. I have also lost weight and am more clearheaded, well rested and present in my life. Sometimes I don't realize how much I drink, being in the service industry. I never considered myself a heavy drinker, but I drink frequently and I love to consume food and drink like a heathen.
And you know what? You truly do not need alcohol to have fun. It's all in your head. You can still go out, be with your friends, socialize, etc...without needing booze. I've been enjoying more water and tea at the bar, as well as presence of mind when socializing with friends and strangers. And in the times I have had a drink, one was enough.
I am keeping it up for the rest of the month, despite giving in intentionally during special events this past week. I miss drinking, but not desperately. I'm enjoying clarity and a smaller waist.
