The winter sun casts early light into my window around the time I photograph my makeup. Since then I've changed the setup in my room but it's interesting to note the season affecting the procedure. Most of my windows face west, some north.
For the month of December I was really into softly shaded eyes paired with nude lips. Eyeliner gives crisp definition at the lash line. It's an easy and relatively effortless look that I consider a fail-safe, no matter the occasion.
Sometimes I like to dig into my professional stash and try those products for myself during the slow season, so my new goody of the month was Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. It's a soft, rosy gold-toned shimmery liquid that gives a sheer glow to the face (and they do come in other colors and formats). After priming my face I use one pump of the perfector and rub it over my skin with my fingertips. Next I apply my foundation on top and then buff it in my skin with a damp Beauty Blender. The BB sheers the topmost later of foundation enough to both blend it evenly over the face and let the shimmering base layer peek through ever so slightly. In the dry season, a product like this is a good item to have to aid in keeping skin fresh (along with moisturizing, drinking water and exfoliating properly!).
