So, I had a bit of a makeup disaster this morning. I really wanted to do a chrome lavender look but it was just too much with the winged liner. I had to use a skilled hand and Qtips to revert my lids back to basics while leaving my eyeliner intact. It was a challenge (because you know once you've got the wing, you will do everything in your power to make sure it isn't compromised).
Also, in the vein of saving some money, I thought I'd buy a dupe for the MAC Skinfinish while I was at the drugstore. The lighting and the packaging made the Revlon powder look more true to my skin than it actually is. It's unfortunately a very light alabaster shade. GUH. Should have just stuck with what I know to be tried and true. At least at the makeup counters, the sales people help you actually match your skin with product, removing the disastrous guessing game element. I'd rather pay more for something that comes with that experience than lose money on a gamble.
Despite this morning's folly, I plan on doing a duochrome/foiled look soon. I just got a liquid fixative for the purpose and have plenty of metallic pigments to play with. I'm thinking gilded fresh penny copper. OMFG. I can't even.
