WTF is with these grainy ass photos...damn. Thanks, camera.
Feeling moody on a Saturday = brooding lips. Although I somewhat regret/question my decision to do this, since I had to work that night and this color is a bit high maintenance. I love this MAC lipstick, it's this strange silvery warm taupe color that's metallic and applies relatively matte. MAC's matte lipsticks are super drying, so a primer is essential. Still, having to wade through primer and liner and lipstick in the restaurant industry is a bit annoying when you have all the tables and no time to even pee, let alone get fabulous.
Lately I've been drawn to doing neutral eyes with my Etude Palette by Saucebox Cosmetics. This has become a new holy grail item for me: 8 matte eyeshadows for every day wear. It has black, white, pale yellow, muted violet, brick red, tan, dark brown, and light brown (like cafe au lait). I generally default to Cream Dream (cafe au lait color) and Snowflake/Beaming (white and pale yellow) when doing a very basic neutral eye, as it's the perfect canvas for a smokey look or graphic liner, or glitter and anything else you could want.
When doing a dark eye, you want to balance it with a nude lip. The same applies to an intense lip: keep the eye simple. I added a pop of silver liner for a glint, and also as a subtle nod to the lipstick. Cake was used to layer on top of the liner for additional shimmer, and as an inner corner highlight to keep the eye area bright. Cake one of my favorite shadows for highlighting. Gotta give some love to the indies, and Femme Fatale Cosmetics are one of the best indie companies out there!
