I skipped a day of makeup and photos the day after the Cher concert. Why? Because I went to bed super late and was a bit hungover, so I opted instead to sleep until the last possible moment before heading into work. To make up (haha) for a lost day, I wanted to wear a colorful face in honor of the World Cup kicking off (another haha) on June 12.
I love soccer. I believe it to be the best sport in the world for two reasons: for the sheer grace and coordination it takes to play, and that it is such a uniting force that brings so many people joy and community. I always feel so happy when the World Cup comes around, because it brings people together in so many ways. Ain't nobody feeling those effects in full when it comes to other sports. It's on par with the Olympics- the whole world literally comes together to watch, and there is so much honor to behold. I love seeing the players close their eyes and sing fiercely their national anthem before running their hearts out on those fields. Soccer is a very dignified and noble sport.
ANYWAY- I was feeling inspired by the bold colors of the Brazilian flag, so I made to replicate those hues on my eyes. First, I painted the matte green all over the lid. After that, I did a cat eye on both sides using a black liner; when the first layer dried, I went over it again with the cobalt from inner corner to mid lash line to create the gradient effect. Lastly, for a pop, I lined my lower lash line with bright yellow. As you see listed above, all three eyeliners are Sephora brand, and if I may do a mini rave: these are the best eyeliners I've used to date. They stay put all day and go on smoothly and opaquely in one pass. They are very inexpensive and extremely pigmented. I even find they are slightly better quality than the Urban Decay eyeliners. But, to each their own. I'm just saying that if you need eyeliner, you should just give the Sephora brand ones a try. I also have them in metallic gold and silver, and those ones rock as well.
To compliment the eyes, I used a bright pink lipstick. The combination of colors on the mouth and eyes paired with the warmth of the blush made me feel like a bird of paradise. And then I threw on an obnoxious neon shirt because why the hell not?
This is one of the most fun looks I've done to date. I plan on doing more themed looks when the USA and Iran play their respective games.
